ABOUT
Archdale Guitars was born out of my own wish to have a bass guitar that perfectly matched my preferences and playing style. I wanted narrow string spacing at the bridge, but wide spacing at the nut. I wanted a slim neck. And a 33" scale. I wanted a traditional look but I also wanted it to balance perfectly on the strap when standing. I wanted to be able to access the upper frets. Oh and mandolin fretwire. And the pickup of my choice, and…and so on....
That first bass, an ash-bodied Precision, was built using borrowed tools in a shared workshop. It has long since been sacrificed for parts, but the excitement of plugging it in for the first time is the same with each instrument I make.
Custom Comfort
With Archdale Guitars I want to create instruments that are firmly rooted in traditional designs, but with an emphasis on player comfort.
